Billie Eilish Short Acoustic Set at Amoeba Music

Amoeba Music has announced a special in-store acoustic performance with Billie Eilish on Friday, July 29, at 12 p.m. to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of her latest release Happier Than Ever. Masks are required for the in-store set by all attendees.

Contest: Daniel Rossen at Echoplex

Grizzly Bear's Daniel Rossen has a pair of shows scheduled as part of his current West Coast tour! Echoplex will be his first local stop for Daniel Rossen's all-ages solo shows on Friday, June 10, before heading over to Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace on Saturday, June 11. Daniel Rossen is performing in support of his solo release You Belong There.

Metronomy Will Be Back to Play at the Wiltern

We didn't have to wait long to welcome back Metronomy. As we previously reported, Metronomy played in support of their latest release, Small World, at the Lodge Room earlier this month. Now you can catch Metronomy live when they play their hits and more at the Wiltern on Thursday, October 27.

Amoeba Hollywood to Reopen on April 1st

It's time to get excited, Scenestar readers. This is NOT a cruel April Fool's joke either, because Amoeba Music is finally BACK! The Hollywood location has announced that its new location is opening next week following the closing of its 6400 Sunset Blvd closing permanently. They will now be opening their new location at 6200 Hollywood Blvd on Thursday, April 1. Amoeba will have new temporary hours as well: Monday - Sunday 11 am - 8 pm (Buy counter open 11 am - 7 pm).

The iconic record store will be following all health and safety guidelines from local city and county public health departments, including social distancing and mandatory wearing of face coverings over the nose and mouth. More details on Amoeba Music Hollywood are below, and we're as excited as you are to see the new location. See you there!

Music Video: The Know "Someday Maybe"

Los Angeles-based dream pop act The Know recently released a music video for their single "Someday Maybe," from their upcoming self-titled release, out on Monday, May 18. The music video features a lead role by someone you may know from seeing him dance up and down the aisles or at his seat at the majority of concerts you attend here in Los Angeles, Howard Mordoh aka "L.A. Rocker."

Original Amoeba Hollywood Location to Close

Sad news for music lovers that didn't get to visit the original location in Hollywood before it closed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Amoeba Music has announced that its location at 6400 Sunset Blvd will be closing permanently. They will now be concentrating on opening their new location at 6200 Hollywood Blvd when it is safe to do so. You can still order new record releases and old favorites via their online store until then. Amoeba projected that they wouldn't be able to reopen until the fall so it made more sense to concentrate on the grand opening of their new location instead of attempting to open based on current projections. You can help employees of Amoeba Music through the pandemic by donating to their Go Fund Me fundraiser as well here. Their new Hollywood location will still host in-store performances, signings, and more of what made Amoeba Music adored and unique in the music community. Unfortunately, their old (current) location will not get a proper farewell.

Amoeba Hollywood's New Location Revealed

Be still our hearts, Scenestar readers. More proof that Amoeba Music will stay in our lives comes courtesy of the announcement of the future location of the iconic Los Angeles record store in a teaser video featuring local Grammy winner Tyler, The Creator. The store is set to open in Fall 2020 (Tentatively around Labor Day) on the corner of Hollywood and Argyle in the new “El Centro Hollywood” complex in Downtown Hollywood.
