Josh Radnor Has Shows Booked at Hotel Cafe

Actor/musician Josh Radnor will be playing a few intimate tour dates here in Los Angeles! Playing in support of his solo release One More Then I'll Let You Go, Josh Radnor will be playing a series of 21+ shows at the Hotel Cafe on Wednesday, January 11 with Ari Tibi; Tuesday, January 17 with Ari Tibi; Friday, February 3 with Maria Taylor; and Thursday, February 16.

The Roots NYE at Walt Disney Concert Hall

Scenestar favorite The Roots will be coming back to help Los Angeles wrap up 2023! The iconic hip-hop act team up with the LA Phil to perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday, December 31, at 7:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Contest: Laura Marano at the Troubadour

Laura Marano is currently on her first-ever headlining tour! Performing in support of her latest EP release, Us, Laura Marano will be playing a hometown show with openers Mark Diamond and The Sunshine State at the Troubadour on Friday, August 5.

Contest: Juneteenth at the Hollywood Bowl

The LA Phil is set to host one of the most star-studded events in Los Angeles this month! In celebration of Juneteenth, the Hollywood Bowl will be hosting "Juneteenth: A Global Celebration of Freedom" on Sunday, June 19. The event will feature performances by Khalid, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Roots, Lucky Daye, Jhené Aiko, Robert Glasper, Killer Mike (of Run The Jewels), Billy Porter, Mary Mary, Anthony Hamilton, Michelle Williams, Mickey Guyton, the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and more. Plus, Thomas Wilkins and Derrick Hodge lead the Re-Collective Orchestra, marking the first-ever performance of an all-Black symphony orchestra in the Hollywood Bowl’s 100-year history. Musical direction for the night is provided by Adam Blackstone and Questlove.

Guest appearances and special presenters (both live and pre-recorded) include Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, Yolanda Adams, Miles Brown, Jordan Chiles, Deon Cole, Affion Crockett, D Smoke, Michael Ealy, David Gross, Jemele Hill, Lil Rel Howery, Leslie Jones, Opal Lee, Marsai Martin, K. Michelle, Kendrick Sampson, Jill Scott, Amanda Seales, Gabourey Sidibe, Raven-Symoné, Terrence J, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and Susan Kelechi Watson. The event will also be broadcast on CNN.

Ohio-based folk trio Girl Named Tom will be coming to Los Angeles for a headlining show! The siblings will be performing live in support of their debut full-length release, Hits from the Road, at the Troubadour on Wednesday, May 18, with singer-songwriter Claire Wright opening the show.

It's the first week of May, Scenestar readers. Despite one of the biggest comedy festivals (Netflix Is A Joke Fest) continuing to take over venues this week, there are still some great concert options to kick off the week which include one of our favorite 21+ residencies taking our Show of the Night title: School Night! Back again tonight at Bardot in Hollywood, School Night will feature performances once again from some great up-and-coming acts which include Los Angeles's own Wens, Flowerkid out of Sydney, Australia, Toronto's Grae, and Los Angeles-based electronic soul duo Finkel to wrap things up. Jayo and KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic morning DJ Novena Carmel will serve as hosts this evening. You can also stream the concert online for FREE here on Twitch.
