We made it to the weekend once again, Scenestar readers. There's still no Coachella 2023 lineup yet, but we kick off the first Friday of the year with our Show of the Night selection: No Age! As part of The Smell's 25th Anniversary Celebration, No Age will perform with a line that also features performances by Lavender Diamond, Cupid & Psyche, Janelane, and Sean Solomon.

Shows of the Night: Thursday, January 5th

BUY TICKETS: Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco) at Largo at the Coronet

It's still storming out there, Scenestar readers. The Coachella 2023 lineup isn't here yet, but there are a bunch of concerts this Thursday to keep you busy including our pick for Show of the Night: Jeff Tweedy! The Wilco frontman will be playing the first of his many solo residency dates tonight at the Largo at the Coronet, in support of his latest solo release Love Is the King. You can also see Jeff Tweedy play at the intimate West L.A. venue on Friday, January 6; Saturday, January 7; and Sunday, January 8.

The Smell Announce 25th Anniversary Shows

Legendary DYI venue The Smell will be celebrating 25 years starting with four great shows this month! The music venue has played host to many of your favorite acts as they've come up the ranks such as Best Coast, Bleached, Health, No Age, Surf Curse, and many more. To celebrate, you can make plans to make new memories starting with Night 1 during Sun Records Tribute Night in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sam Phillips on Thursday, January 5, with a lineup that includes members of Death Valley Girls, The Sad Girls, Together Pangea, and more.

Friday, January 6, brings No Age, Lavender Diamond, Cupid & Psyche, Janelane, and Sean Solomon to The Smell. Saturday, January 7, will have you rocking to Clipping. with openers Kuromy, The Claudia Kishis, Sick Burn, and Body Party. The Smell will wrap things up on Sunday, January 8, with FM, The Warlocks, Prissy Whip, and Black Love.

Shows of the Night: Saturday, December 31st

New Year's Eve is finally here, Scenestar readers. It's rainy, but there are plenty of great events out there to entice you to go out including our top pick for Show of the Night: The Roots! The iconic hip-hop act will join the LA Phil tonight to perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall at 7:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Happy Boxing Day, Scenestar readers. We have a few concert options post-Christmas with a residency by No Age's Randy Randall at the top of our list for Show of the Night! Zebulon will play host to the last night of Randy Randall's FREE residency night in support of his solo release, Sound Field Vol 2020, with opening sets by Travesura and Aaron Espinoza.

We have a stacked Wednesday, Scenestar readers. There are a ton of great concert options and at the top of the list for our Show of the Night is The Smile! Radiohead's side project, The Smile, featuring Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Tom Skinner will be performing in support of A Light for Attracting Attention, tonight at the Shrine Auditorium, and Thursday, December 22 with Robert Stillman opening both shows.

The Postal Service: Three Hollywood Bowl Shows

We have even more shows by The Postal Service to look forward to, Scenestar readers! As we previously announced, the iconic indie pop act will be reuniting and teaming up with Death Cab for Cutie to headline the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, October 13, and Sunday, October 15. Now a third show will be taking place with the pair on Tuesday, October 17, when The Postal Service plays Give Up in full while Death Cab For Cutie plays Transatlanticism in full.

Contest: Soen at the Troubadour

Progressive metal supergroup Soen will be performing in Los Angeles this weekend! The Swedish act will be taking the stage in support of her latest release Imperial, at the Troubadour on Friday, December 14. Texan heavy metal band, Oceans of Slumber, will be opening the show.
