Contest: A.R. Rahman at the Hollywood Bowl

This weekend marks the return of Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman! LA Phil will be bringing A.R. Rahman to the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, July 24, where one of the world’s most prolific film composers will play his hits under the stars with dance company Blue13 opening the show. KCRW's Raul Campos will serve as host for the evening.

The weekend is almost here, Scenestar readers! Before it gets here, we're going to double down on our pick for Show of the Night: Nick Cave and Warren Ellis! Nick Cave and bandmate Warren Ellis will wrap up their 2-night stay in the city tonight with an evening at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles.

Hollywood Bowl Release Their 2022 Schedule

One of our favorite summer concert announcements is here, Scenestar readers! The Hollywood Bowl will be celebrating its 100th summer season courtesy of the Los Angeles Philharmonic announcing its concert schedule, and there are a lot of exciting options once again this year.

The Hollywood Bowl 2022 concert calendar includes performances by A-Ha, Boyz II Men, Sheryl Crow, Chvrches, Durand Jones & The Indications, Duran Duran, Billie Eilish, Flying Lotus, John Fogerty, The Gipsy Kings, Herbie Hancock, Debbie Harry, Grace Jones, Hiatus Kaiyote, Kenny Loggins, Ricky Martin, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Parcels, Pentatonix, Pink Martini, Polo & Pan, A.R. Rahman, The Roots, Diana Ross, TLC, UB40, John Williams, and many more. Also, the Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor—and Scenestar favorite—Gustavo Dudamel will once again make several appearances for orchestral performances as well as the annual KCRW Summer Concert Series will be returning with some of our favorite acts. More artists will be added closer to the general on-sale date.

We have a great Valentine's Day weekend contest for you, Scenestar readers! As we previously announced, two of our favorite Australian rockers, Nick Cave and bandmate Warren Ellis, will be headlining shows at the Shrine Auditorium on Wednesday, March 9, and at the Orpheum Theatre on Thursday, March 10.

BUY TICKETS: Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Panther’ in Concert w/ the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl

Let's wrap this weekend up, Scenestar readers. We'll be doing so with a night at the movies featuring our Show of the Night selection: Black Panther! The Hollywood Bowl will host a screening of the iconic film with a live score by the Los Angeles Philharmonic as they perform Ludwig Göransson’s Oscar®-winning score live to picture as part of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther in Concert tonight. Thomas Wilkins will serve as the conductor and will be joined by special guest Baaba Maal.

Two 'Nightmare' Shows at Banc of California

We have more Danny Elfman to share with you, Scenestar readers! As we previously reported, one of our favorite annual Halloween events will be back next month, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Live-To-Film Concert Experience featuring Danny Elfman, at Banc of California Stadium on Friday, October 29. The event is back with a full orchestra and choir performing with conductor John Mauceri. Other participants will be announced at a later date, but past guest slots have included appearances by Catherine O'Hara, Ken Page, and Paul Reubens.

Now, a second show has been added on Sunday, October 31, for those of you that wanted to partake on Halloween.

Also, attendees can participate in a costume contest, and there will be trick-or-treating.

Jon Batiste Schedules a Show at the Teragram

The bandleader for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Jon Batiste has scheduled an upcoming L.A. show! The award-winning co-composer of the Pixar animated film "Soul" will headline an all-ages show at the Teragram Ballroom on Friday, September 17, in support of his latest release We Are.

Amoeba Hollywood to Reopen on April 1st

It's time to get excited, Scenestar readers. This is NOT a cruel April Fool's joke either, because Amoeba Music is finally BACK! The Hollywood location has announced that its new location is opening next week following the closing of its 6400 Sunset Blvd closing permanently. They will now be opening their new location at 6200 Hollywood Blvd on Thursday, April 1. Amoeba will have new temporary hours as well: Monday - Sunday 11 am - 8 pm (Buy counter open 11 am - 7 pm).

The iconic record store will be following all health and safety guidelines from local city and county public health departments, including social distancing and mandatory wearing of face coverings over the nose and mouth. More details on Amoeba Music Hollywood are below, and we're as excited as you are to see the new location. See you there!
