Once again, we made it to the weekend, Scenestar readers. There's some cool concerts to get your weekend started this Friday and that includes a big concert that's our Show of the Night selection: Alt 98.7's Friendsgiving! Taking place tonight at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Alt 98.7's Friendsgiving will feature a lineup that includes Sublime with Rome saying farewell to that live lineup, Dirty Heads, The Interrupters, and Beach Weather. Ben Gibbard Benefit Show at the Alex Theatre

Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard will be making a stop in Los Angeles next month for a great cause!

The Postal Service frontman will be playing a benefit show in support of 88.5fm The SoCal Sound at the Alex Theatre on Saturday, December 7. Trousdale, Brett Dennen, and Rosa Linn will also be joining Ben Gibbard to help raise funds for the independent Northridge-based radio station.

Charlie Hickey Benefit Show at Knitting Factory

Playing a show to raise some funds for one of our favorite local radio stations is Pasadena's very own Charlie Hickey! The Saddest Factory Records artist will be playing tracks off his latest release, Nervous at Night, and is set to play an intimate hometown show at the Knitting Factory NoHo on Monday, June 19. Opening the show will be Cecilia Castleman.

Proceeds will benefit Cal State Northridge's public radio station, The SoCal Sound 88.5. Other local shows by The SoCal Sound 88.5 featuring Lo Moon, The Recording Company, and more that are specifically benefitting the radio station are listed below.

Shows of the Night: Monday, June 12th

Here we go with another week of great live music, Scenestar readers. We'll start the week with an intimate concert taking the title of Show of the Night: SYML! The singer-songwriters will be playing a radio fundraiser for The SoCal Sound 88.5 with the station's own DJ Julie Slater opening for him tonight at No Vacancy in Hollywood. You can also see SYML at the Belasco Theater in Downtown Los Angeles on Friday, August 18, in support of his latest release, The Day My Father Died.

Feist Has Two Shows At The Palace Theatre

It looks like you won't have to wait long to welcome Feist back to Los Angeles. Following the April 28 release of her new album Pleasure, Feist will headline two shows at the historic Downtown Palace Theatre on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6.

Mondo Cozmo Has A Date At The Hotel Cafe

Philadelphia's Joshua Ostrander, AKA Mondo Cozmo, didn't think one show was enough, so he has added another local tour date this month! After blowing away fans at his recent performance at Bardot for It's a School Night and performing a live set on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, Mondo Cozmo will take the stage once again at the Hotel Cafe on Wednesday, November 30. Matt Maeson is scheduled to open the 21+ show.

Contest: Tweedy At The Theatre At Ace Hotel

One of our favorite father-and-son duos is here in Los Angeles this weekend! Tweedy, consisting of Jeff Tweedy and Spencer Tweedy, will headline two shows at the Theatre at Ace Hotel on Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22, in support of new album Sukierae. Opening these shows will be Eleanor Friedberger on Saturday and The Minus 5 on Sunday. If you would like to attend the KCSN-sponsored show on Sunday, then we have the contest for you!

We made it to the weekend, Scenestar readers! Once again there are a bunch of concert options to get your Friday going, including one for a great cause. Tonight's 88.5 KCSN Benefit Concert will feature Sarah McLachlan and Laura Marling at Valley Performing Arts Center—and it's our Show of the Night! There also will be a 88.5 KCSN Benefit Concert with Ryan Adams, Conor Oberst, and David Gray on Friday, December 12.
