Elton John: Two Concerts at Dodger Stadium

Sir Elton John has announced his very last tour: the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour! For L.A. fans, he has scheduled two shows at the Dodger Stadium on Saturday, November 19, 2022, and Sunday, November 20, 2022. Dodger Stadium was the site of his iconic shows more than 45 years ago.

She Wants Revenge Announce Break Up

Sad news, She Wants Revenge fans. This week, Los Angeles indie rock duo Justin Warfield and Adam Bravin aka She Wants Revenge have called it quits after reuniting in 2016 following their brief hiatus in 2012. The band was scheduled to perform at Cruel World Festival next month at the Grounds at Dignity Health Sports Park before it was canceled back in May. Bauhaus, Blondie, and Morrissey were the scheduled headliners with Goth and New Wave acts The Church, Cold Cave, Devo, Echo & The Bunnymen, Gary Numan, The Psychedelic Furs, Public Image Ltd., and Violent Femmes, also in the lineup. The San Fernando Valley band formed in 2004 and consisted of Adam Bravin and Justin Warfield, with hit tracks that included "Out of Control," "She Will Always Be A Broken Girl", "Take The World", "Tear You Apart", "These Things," "True Romance," "Written In Blood," and many more. The two will move on to work on other projects with more details in their statement below.

The Satellite Will No Longer Be a Music Venue

As you may have heard, The Satellite (Formerly Spaceland) will no longer be operating as a music venue. The iconic Silverlake venue had hosted the Los Angeles debut shows for a lot of artists as well as performances by Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Beck, Editors, Foo Fighters, Le Butcherettes, The Killers, Miike Snow, My Morning Jacket, The Presets, Reggie Watts, The White Stripes; "secret shows" with the likes of The Bravery, Cold War Kids, Death Cab For Cutie, Lady Gaga, Local Natives, Julian Casablancas, etc; and legendary free residency shows featuring The Blood Arm, Silversun Pickups, and Rilo Kiley just to name a few. The club was also featured as the setting for the fictional band Munchausen By Proxy (Led by lead singer Zooey Deschanel) in the 2008 Jim Carrey movie 'Yes Man.' We always liked catching Interpol's Carlos D on the Galaga machine in the early days of Turn On The Bright Lights when the band was always in town. The Satellite was recently known to host great comedy shows which included a monthly residency by Neil Hamburger, club nights, and club shows for local artists.

Owner Jeff Wolfram shared on social media today that they will no longer be a music venue and will be renovated to operate as a bar and a restaurant. Check out their statement below.

Sad news Scenestar readers. British producer Andrew Weatherall has passed at age 56. The DJ, producer, remixer, and musician behind Screamadelica passed away this morning in London.

Amoeba Hollywood's New Location Revealed

Be still our hearts, Scenestar readers. More proof that Amoeba Music will stay in our lives comes courtesy of the announcement of the future location of the iconic Los Angeles record store in a teaser video featuring local Grammy winner Tyler, The Creator. The store is set to open in Fall 2020 (Tentatively around Labor Day) on the corner of Hollywood and Argyle in the new “El Centro Hollywood” complex in Downtown Hollywood.

KCRW Limited 'Morning Becomes Eclectic' Vinyl

There's really no easy way to say goodbye to a musical fixture in your life, especially with one that you feel has been there forever. After almost a decade of hosting KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, Jason Bentley will step down this week, wrapping things up on Friday, August 30. To commemorate his time there, KCRW will be releasing a limited-edition, double-vinyl compilation - Morning Becomes Eclectic: Live from the Basement.

“Morning Becomes Eclectic: Live from the Basement is a collection of live sessions recorded during my tenure as host,” says Bentley. “At the close of KCRW’s basement era, this compilation - limited to 1000 pressings - is a tribute to all the links in the chain who helped cast radio magic into the ether, and the audience who leaned-in to their radios for incredible moments like these.”
