If you are a fan of 90's indie rock and don't know 3RA1N1AC (AKA Brainiac), you are missing out on something really special. Everyone we know who knows of them describes this band with hopeless abandon. You're in luck because there's a documentary on the way and it's coming out in a few months!

Sonic Youth 30-Year Anniversary of Daydream Nation screening + Q&A

 

We didn't think we'd be writing about Sonic Youth with regard to music news ever again, if not at least not for a while, but we're very glad we are! Next Tuesday, October 23rd the Regent in downtown Los Angeles will be doing a one-night-only screening of Lance (married to Sleater Kinney's Corin Tucker) Bangs’ new concert film named Daydream Nation after Sonic Youth's 1988 album of the same name.

L7 Schedules Show At Amoeba Music

In support of the L7 documentary Pretend We're Dead, the band will perform at Amoeba Music on Tuesday, October 17, at 6 p.m. They'll also sign copies of the Pretend We're Dead DVD or Blu-ray, and to participate in this after the performance, simply purchase the film (released October 13) at the Hollywood record store. Directed by Sarah Price, Pretend We're Dead chronicles L7's career, from the band's formation in 1985 to today.

L7 Documentary To Screen At The Regent

The L7 documentary Pretend We're Dead won't be released on DVD or VOD until October 13, but the film will screen at select cities before then! This includes an 18+ screening at the Regent Theater on Saturday, September 16, and it will include a meet & greet with the band after the film. Directed by Sarah Price, the film chronicles L7's career, from the band's formation in 1985 to today. Check out the official trailer above.

Trailer: England Is Mine (Morrissey Biopic)

Morrissey fans, rejoice! Honlodge Productions recently released the trailer for the biopic England Is Mine, which will be released in the U.K. on August 4. The film is a portrait of Steven Patrick Morrissey and his early life in 1970s Manchester before he went on to become the lead singer of legendary band The Smiths.

Here we go again, Scenestar readers. We're ready to get out and taking in today's selections but were sticking with our back-to-back pick for Show of the Night, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds! Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds continue their tour in support of Skeleton Tree, with a headlining show at the Greek Theatre tonight, with opener Cat Power. Nick Cave also has scheduled a Q&A at the Egyptian Theatre on Friday, July 7, which will include a 3D screening of his film One More Time With Feeling. There's also a screening and a Q&A with Nick Cave at the Aero Theatre on Saturday, July 8.

Rodriguez At City National Grove Of Anaheim

The star of the Academy Award-winning documentary Searching for Sugarman, Sixto Rodriguez has an upcoming show this spring! Rodriguez will make his only local tour stop at the City National Grove of Anaheim, where he will perform live on Wednesday, May 17. There are currently no Los Angeles-area shows.
