Welcome back to a post-Memorial Day weekend in Los Angeles, Scenestar readers. We still have some reasons to get you out of the house which includes the return of our pick for Show of the Night: The National! As we previously reported, The National are back in town to perform in support of their latest release, First Two Pages of Frankenstein, starting tonight at the Greek Theatre with opener Soccer Mommy. You can also see The National once last time on Wednesday, May 31.

Preview: Pitchfork Music Festival 2023

The 17th edition of the Pitchfork Music Festival returns to Chicago’s Union Park this summer from July 21st – 23rd 2023. A pair of heavy hitters in the form of Bon Iver and The Smile headline another stacked lineup with festival favorite Big Thief as the 3rd name at the top of the bill. Recently reunited Youth Lagoon, indie darling Weyes Blood, and the reclusive King Krule make long-awaited returns to Union Park this year. R&B act Ric Wilson, DJ/producer Ariel Zetina, and singer/songwriter Sen Morimoto represent their hometown of Chicago.

Set Times: Re:SET 2023 at the Rose Bowl

It's almost time to head back to Brookside at the Rose Bowl for some more great live music, courtesy of Goldenvoice! Lucky for those of you planning to go, we now have the official set times for the Re:SET concert series to get our schedules sorted out.

As we previously reported, Re:SET will be taking place in Pasadena on Friday, June 2, Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4 with a lineup that consists of Steve Lacy, James Blake, Toro y Moi, and Fousheé on Friday, Boygenius, Clairo, Dijon, and Bartees Strange on Saturday, and LCD Soundsystem, Jamie XX, Idles, and Big Freedia on Sunday.

Each day of music will feature full sets from each act with no competing stage conflicting with any of the scheduled performances at any of the 12-city concert series tour stops in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Columbia, Forest Hills, Grand Prairie, Nashville, New Orleans, Palo Alto, Pasadena, and San Diego.

Shows of the Night: Tuesday, May 23rd

BUY TICKETS: The Cure w/ The Twilight Sad at the Hollywood Bowl (7:00pm)

Tuesday has some great concert offerings, Scenestar readers. Of all the options, the undisputed champ of our Show of the Night is The Cure! The Cure are back tonight for the first time since 2019 after their most recent L.A. performance at Pasadena Daydream Festival, when they headline a show at the Hollywood Bowl with opener The Twilight Sad. You can also see The Cure in Hollywood on Wednesday, May 24, and Thursday, May 25.

If you can't get into our Show of the Night, your other music options include performances by Dave Attell, Box Dreams, The Damned, Brett Goldstein, Homixide, Hoodoo Gurus, Meg Myers, Peter Cat Recording Co., Leith Ross, The Sisters of Mercy, Candace Sosa, Ringo Starr, Superfan, and many more.

Cruel World 2023 Rescheduled to Sunday

Unfortunately, due to unsafe weather conditions, Cruel World 2023 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl couldn't finish its scheduled sets for the night. Luckily for the festival and festivalgoers, the show will go on tonight thanks to Goldenvoice being able to reschedule some of the acts to perform tonight instead! On Sunday, May 21, Siouxsie will serve once again as the headliner with sets by Iggy Pop, Gary Numan, and Dave From The Grave, starting at 5 p.m.

Set Times: Cruel World 2023 at Rose Bowl

Cruel World is just around the corner, Scenestar readers! Now you can start planning out your day now that Goldenvoice has officially released set times for their upcoming music festival.

One notable lineup change is The Motels no longer performing in Pasadena, but are being replaced by iconic electro-pop New Wave band, Berlin.

As we previously announced, Cruel World will be taking place on Saturday, May 20, at Brookside at the Rose Bowl with headliners Siouxsie and Iggy Pop. The list of curated goth and new wave acts scheduled to perform includes ABC, Adam Ant, Animotion, Aurat, Boy Harsher, Echo & The Bunnymen, Ela Minus, Gang of Four, Gary Numan, Glass Spells, GVLLOW, The Human League, Billy Idol, Love and Rockets, Modern English, Molchat Doma, Riki, The Soft Moon, The Vapors, Twin Tribes, and Urban Heat.

Paradise in the Park Returns to Pershing Square

One of our favorite Downtown Los Angeles block parties is back this summer. The 21+ Paradise in the Park will be taking place on Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, at Pershing Square, starting at 4 p.m. Curated by Welsh DJ and producer Jamie Jones, the 2-day event will feature performances by Seth Troxler, DJ Harvey, Honeyluv, and multi-instrumentalist DJ Cole Knight on day one. Day two will also feature Jamie Jones with additional sets by SG Lewis (DJ Set), Chloe Caillet, Mason Collective, and a b2b set from Los Angeles' very own Heidi Lawden and Masha.

Shows of the Night: Thursday, May 11th

BUY TICKETS: Placebo w/ Cold Cave at the Greek Theatre (7:30pm)

We have a stacked Thursday, Scenestar readers. There are a ton of concert options all around town, including our Show of the Night selection: Placebo! You can see Placebo live when the iconic alternative rock act headlines their first L.A. show in nine years at the Greek Theatre on tonight with opener Cold Cave. The show is in support of their latest release, Never Let Me Go.
