Bad news, Scenestar readers: The MainFest Alhambra music festival has been canceled. The second annual event was scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 9, in Downtown Alhambra, along Main Street and 1st Street, with performances by Broods, Classixx, Ghostland Observatory, Polica, Poolside, Purity Ring, and Gavin Turek.
As reported earlier, Daryl Hall & John Oates and Tears for Fears had scheduled two shows at the Staples Center on July 28 and July 29, with special guest Allen Stone. However, Tears for Fears has announced that these shows are now postponed "due to a family emergency."
As reported earlier, The Cranberries were scheduled to headline an all-ages show at the Wiltern on Friday, October 6, in support of Something Else, which features acoustic versions of the band's classic hits. But the band recently announced via Facebook: "Unfortunately Dolores O'Riordan's recovery from her ongoing back problem which forced the cancellation of most of the band's European tour this Summer has not been going as well as expected to such extent that her Doctors have now instructed her to cancel her upcoming almost sold out tour of North America with the band."

One of our favorite local music festivals will go on hiatus this year: Make Music Pasadena has announced that it will not host its free event in Pasadena. The festival wrote via Facebook: "After nine years of bringing free music to the streets of our city with Make Music Pasadena, Old Pasadena Management District and the Playhouse District Association, co-producers of the festival, have made the difficult decision to put the event on hiatus for 2017 and to evaluate its future viability." The festival cited a $150,000 budget deficit as well as the "challenge to secure both talent and local media attention within a limited budget" as other reasons for the decision.

Even though Eric Clapton has postponed his two shows at The Forum this weekend due to severe bronchitis, his special guest for these shows, Gary Clark Jr., has scheduled his own intimate headlining show this Sunday, March 26, at the Fonda Theatre. This is his first L.A. show since his two performances at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in December.

One more Coachella 2016 weekend to go, Scenestar readers! You can start planning which acts to see at the festival, because Goldenvoice has released the official set times for Weekend 2! Now you can adjust your festival schedule accordingly for this upcoming weekend. Also, check out the venue map here as well as the set times for the new Despacio tent (courtesy of LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and 2ManyDJs), The Do Lab stage (with KCRW DJ Jason Bentley added), and the Heineken House.
Lush was unable to make it to Weekend 1, but Weekend 2 fans will be able to see them at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. Both Skepta and Sasha will no longer perform on Friday, April 22, and Cosmic Crates, rather than Synergy, will perform at the Sahara on Friday. Black Coffee and Nicole Moudaber will have longer sets at Yuma as a result of the cancellations.
Saturday will swap out Dirty Mop and Jimbo Jenkins, who performed at the Sahara last weekend, with Big Game and DJ Morsy. DJ Koze and Mano Le Tough are still performing this weekend, but they have switched festival time slots at Yuma.
On Sunday, Swarvy has been dropped from the lineup, and EROK will perform at the Mojave instead. Mister BLAQK has been replaced by David J Prince at the Sahara.
For those of you planning to spend New Year's Eve at The Standard, Downtown Los Angeles for the annual Rhondapolis: New Year's Eve, there's some bad news. This year's 21+ event on Thursday, December 31, has been canceled "due to unforeseen operational issues," according to a press release by promoter Rhonda. This year's event was to feature performances by Felix Da Housecat, DJ Harvey, Jackmaster, xxxy, Dauwd, L-Vis 1990, Octo Octa, Marvin & Guy, and many more.
Bad news for those of you looking forward to seeing Desaparecidos this fall. According to a statement issued by the band earlier today, Conor Oberst has fallen ill, and Desaparecidos will cancel their remaining tour dates, which included an 18+ show at the Teragram Ballroom on Thursday, November 12, and an all-ages show at the Observatory on Friday, November 13.
