Get ready to start saving your money for this cool collaboration, Nine Inch Nails fans! Dr. Martens and Nine Inch Nails will be teaming up for 3 different boot designs (including one additional mostly black super fan exclusive) as part of the 30th anniversary of The Downward Spiral. The design of the shoes is in conjunction with input from NIN creative director John Crawford to bring the decayed, post-apocalyptic aesthetic of the album to life in the upcoming footwear release on Friday, July 19, at 8 a.m. local time.
Get more details on the collaboration below.
The Nine Inch Nails Dr. Martens boots will go on sale on Friday, July 19 at 8 a.m. PT, but you can sign up here to be the first to know when they're released to the public as a reminder.
You can also purchase the Nine Inch Nails boots in person as well on Friday, July 19, at 10 a.m. PT at their Glendale store inside the Glendale Galleria on 1161 Galleria Way, Glendale, CA 91201, at the Cerritos location inside of the Los Cerritos Center at 252 Los Cerritos Center, Cerritos, CA 90703, and at their Irvine shop inside the Irvine Spectrum Center at 670 Spectrum Center Dr., STE 652, Irvine, CA 92618.
The three variations of Nine Inch Nails boots include "Dr. Martens 1460 8-Eye Boot Nine Inch Nails - 'The Downward Spiral'," the "Dr. Martens 1461 3-Eye Shoe Nine Inch Nails - 'The Downward Spiral'," and the "Dr. Martens 1490 10-Eye Boot Nine Inch Nails - 'The Downward Spiral'"
The "8-Eye 1460" Dr. Martens edition comes in black and white, returning to what compromised the original album artwork of The Downward Spiral.
The "3-Eye 1461" Dr. Martens in black features a “Crystal Teeth” design throughout, another element taken from the album.
Lastly, the "10-Eye 1490" Dr. Martens pays homage to the Nine Inch Nail’s look during The Downward Spiral era, specifically their live shows in which the band would cover themselves up in corn flour for a decayed, signature post-apocalyptic look.
In terms of live concert or festival sets, there are currently no plans for Nine Inch Nails to reunite as part of the album's anniversary. The band last performed in Los Angeles at Primavera Sound 2022 before calling it quits for now two shows later.
We'll keep you posted if Nine Inch Nails announces any local shows anyway soon, Scenestar readers!
Dr. Martens x NIN Statement
A physical response to Nine Inch Nails’ visceral, ground-breaking album. Our exclusive collaboration celebrates the 30th anniversary of The Downward Spiral. A musical monolith that transcends genres through an exploration of the bleakest themes and yet manages to reject nihilism for hope.
A collection comprised of 3 hard-hitting silhouettes incorporating industrial design references. The 8-eye 1460 boot in a stark black and white design from the album’s iconic artwork. The 3-eye 1461 shoe in black with a ‘Crystal Teeth’ design from the album. And the extra tall 10-eye 1490 boot inspired by the band’s uninhibited live shows where they would cover themselves in corn flour for a decayed, post-apocalyptic aesthetic.

Freaking awesome I love stuff like this. I grew up in Horseshoe Bay when Al Jorgensen lived there in the early 90's and remember some cool shit that he left behind.
