Maggie Rogers' new video for "Light On" premiered today and it makes us want to go on a soul-searching solo road trip like now!
Directed by Olivia Bee and filmed on a road trip through Oregon, this video is a compliment to the poppy, melodically-melancholia single, "Light On." In this video, we find that Rogers is not just a great singer-songwriter but also a capable actress. At the 1:52 mark we're visually reminded a bit of Alanis Morrissette's "Ironic" video, and we cannot ignore that the all-white jeans-and-tee look recalls Andrew WK but that's where those visual comparisons end. Her expressiveness in her dancing and singing like no one is watching is wild, fun, freeing - but most of all it's believable. She is exorcizing some feelings in the confines of her car and, what can we say - later when we're stuck in rush-hour traffic we'll be just like her. We feel this, Maggie Rogers!
Rogers' record Heard It In A Past Life is out January 18, 2019 on Capitol Records and we are super excited to hear more from her. If you can't wait that long, rumor has it she'll be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live next month sometime!
