Deap Vally plays an all ages show at Echoplex on Tuesday, and we couldn't be more excited. Having just performed at Desert Daze, this show is a treat for us Angelenos. And if you haven't seen them, get ready. This duo is proof that rock n' roll is still very much alive and well.
If you have yet to discover Deap Vally, here's what you need to know. The band consists of Lindsey Troy who plays guitar and Julie Edwards who plays drums - both sharing vocal duties. They are known for raw, garagey rock music and have had a few releases, including two full-lengths, the latest one called "Femejism" which was released in 2016 and produced by Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner. They've been working on a third album and in doing so they've collaborated with Zach Dawes (Mini Mansions), Soko, Jennie Lee (Warpaint), Ayse Hassan (Savages), The Flaming Lips, Jamie Hince (The Kills), KT Tunstall, and Peaches. We're so ready to hear the final record.
In prep, Deap Vally released a video for "Bring It On" yesterday via Noisey. With the upcoming election, it's aptly timed. The video is a visual answer to which side of the aisle the band finds themselves. It's directed by Al Brown, illustrated by Russel Taysom, and animated by Stella Belle Hex. Not only do we love the content but you've got to see the kaleidoscope of color within this video - we love the end result. (Watch it below.)
This Echoplex show is in the beginnings of a month-long tour (see the tour dates here). Hopefully, we'll hear some songs from the new record at the show!
