One of our favorite Australian transplants and Cut Copy bass player, Ben Browning, is scheduled to play The Satellite in Silver Lake next month on November 30th in support of his latest release Even Though.
Browning's Even Though was released earlier this year on Yellow Year Records in the midst of a heavy touring schedule with Cut Copy. While we've only had a few solo appearances from Browning, we were first treated with the single “Sunshine Baby” off this, his sophomore release, which continues Browning's brand of Beach Boys-esque melodic twee-pop. His own brand of music can be quite different from Cut Copy's catalog - less dance music and more indie and psychedelic. You'd find Browning's songs flowing easier on a mix with Tame Impala or Belle & Sebastian, sandwiched between The Beatles' "Norwegian Wood" and Donovan's "Mellow Yellow."
Browning's latest single, also titled "Even Though," saw the premiere of this zany music video perfect for the goodbye to summer and yet also appropriate for Halloween coming 'round the corner. When you see it (below), you may agree that it was probably a lot of fun to make!
Browning's last LA show was headlining Bardot's Monday School Night series last July. This time he's back for an undoubtedly elevated Friday-night set. Don't miss it! Los Angeles queer-pop duo, Twin Kids open the show.
