FYF Fest 2017 kicks off tomorrow, Scenestar readers, and what better way to get ready than with a cool mix from one of our favorite artists on the festival bill! Scenestar favorite DJ Daisy O'Dell has released a remix of Björk's "Army of Me" to get you moving. The remix is available as a FREE download, courtesy of SoundCloud.
Regarding her version of the track, DJ Daisy O'Dell writes:
If you complain once more… Let’s talk about resistance fatigue… I get it; I feel it too… civil disobedience is exhausting; emotionally draining… this near constant assault on minorities, LGBTQ rights, the environment, reproductive freedom, and media independence, comes coupled with the mandate to resist – calling, letter writing, petition signing, rallying, being vocal on social media – all of this is work – emotionally and physically taxing. We are getting (justifiably) tired and tried breeds cynicism and cynicism is a dangerous response to this urgent need for human rights advocacy. In order for us to keep this momentum going, we must remind each other that you can live a life opposing fascism and still be emotionally available for your kids - the two are not mutually exclusive. Practice self care; this is a marathon not a sprint. When I need to regroup I immerse myself in music - my job but also my passion. This week I let Bjork call me back to arms, "You're alright. There's nothing wrong. Self-sufficiency please! And get to work!" I share my "version" of her anthem "Army of Me" with you today. Take a breath. Ring the alarm. Keep fighting. #resist
