FEB. 7 | LOS ANGELES—After postponing their November show, Delorean returned to Los Angeles for a rescheduled concert at El Rey Theatre tonight. And despite the ordeal the Spanish band went through last year (Delorean was kidnapped and held hostage by the Los Zetas drug cartel), tonight was a very fun, energetic good time. Pete Lawrie Winfield, AKA Until the Ribbon Breaks, opened the show with a captivating audiovisual performance. Then it was time for Delorean, who delighted the audience with their dancey tunes.
This Spanish band's hypnotizing beats, sometimes reminiscent of '90s dance music, has caught the attention of many, and tonight was no different. All around, people were swaying their hips and nodding their heads—evidence of Delorean's immense talent, which was further showcased by the nonstop moves of keyboardist Unai Lazcano, who was sweating his beard off from start to finish.
The quartet, clad in T-shirts and jeans, kept everyone dancing for over an hour. For those who enjoyed the band's Coachella 2011 performance, tonight's show was an instant flashback to that epic set in the desert. Here's to the next time Delorean is in town.
