Happy New Year everyone! The start of the new year is often a time to reflect on the time past and the future ahead, and for the staff of The Scenestar, 2009 will mark the end of the site, but the beginning of new projects and ideas.
The Scenestar was first conceived in 2006 among music-loving friends who wanted to share their passion with other Los Angelenos. This passion for music spread into a multitude of interests: reliable journalism, photography, concert reviews and reporting word-on-the-street rumors (secret shows, anyone?), among others.
As with most of these projects, the reasons for the site’s conclusion are many, and many are the usual clichés: logistics, monetary, difference of interests, et al. But in the end, we Scenestars can all conclude that we enjoyed the site while it existed, and we’re thankful for all the readers and notes of encouragement that kept us going.
May 2009 be full of great music,
The Scenestar
that sucks. this site is good. losanjealous sucks. you should keep this one going. you could cut down on the photo updates and gig list, which seem to be labor-intensive. but the news postings are worth it.
don't give up!

Sorry to see you go! The Scenestar has been my favorite source of LA music info since I moved here this summer. Best wishes with your future endeavors - maybe you could leave us some links to some second-best coverage of the LA music scene?

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!
This is bitter-sweet.
Are we going in a loop. So I finally come out of my cave for the last 3 years and now you guys are off on new projects. Funny, so am I. For anyone on the staff that remembers the Ambitious Outsider, I promise that this year will be unlike any other.
I have a massive collection of thoughts in my head. For anyone on the staff who would like to see what I'm talking about, please email me and we shall set up a meeting at my home in the Southbay.
Thank you Oscar and co...remember one of the first meetings at the Brite Spot?
carry on....I'm so going to Autolux. Who else is going?
Fondly,
Christian Alexander Sulca

I will miss you. Your news was fast short right to the point. It kept me up on all the LA music scene - at least the music that mattered! Sorry to see you go, but all the best in the next thing.

Good luck with all the new endeavours. You know you have a fan here, Scenestar ladies.
And remember, first and foremost, that the love of music played an important role in this. Because sometimes life suckitude will make it easy to forget that.
Take care,
-G.

For the 2 years I have been in LA, this site has been the reason why I went to all the shows I did, was informed of all the presales/passwords and where I found about many new bands. Good luck in whatever you guys are up to next.
Meanwhile, I need suggestions of LA music sites stat.
