We told you the shows would sell out but lucky for you Scenestar readers that Aimee Mann is feeling the Christmas spirit. Aimee Mann has decided to add a third date at Largo her annual Christmas shows! She will be playing her hits and music from her most recent Christmas album, One More Drifter In The Snow. The new Aimee Mann date will be on Tuesday, December 15th following the already SOLD OUT Christmas shows on Sunday, December 13th and Monday, December 14th at 9pm.
You may know Queen Kwong as Nine Inch Nails' opener during their "With Teeth" tour or from their "Wave Goodbye" tour date at the Hollywood Palladium. Now Queen Kwong is ready for you to get to know her in a different setting and make a name all her own. Fresh out of the studio and with her guitar in hand, Queen Kwong is taking the next step from being the wide-eyed singer Trent Reznor discovered at 17 years old to headline performer. Carre Callaway will start at giving audiences a taste of the new album on Friday, December 11th at the Bootleg Theater and show you the next phase of Queen Kwong. Los Angeles is amped about the debut of Them Crooked Vultures on Tuesday, November 17th at the Wiltern, the same day as the release of their self-titled debut album. Now it looks like their public debut will take place sooner than later for the super group that consists of Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin).
Them Crooked Vultures will now be playing a last minute all ages "secret" show at the Roxy Theatre in support of their upcoming self-titled release before starting their Deserve The Future Tour announced tonight on the Roxy Theatre's website on Monday, November 16th. Before there was a Rage Against The Machine, there was Aztlan Underground raging against the injustices of the world. Although the band released their first official album with their debut Decolonize in 1995 after Rage Against The Machine's self-titled release in 1992, Aztlan Underground has been bringing their socially conscious sounds since 1989. Aztlan Underground has since performed all over the world and even opened for Rage Against The Machine during their Battle of Los Angeles tour of Mexico City.
Now they're back with their first self-titled album Aztlan Underground eight years since their last release out this Fall. The Flaming Lips are ready to set up shop in Los Angeles! No, they're not moving to Los Angeles to record but literally seeting up shop. The Flaming Lips have announced that they will open a temporary special pop-up store to celebrate the release of Embryonic here at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood!
The store will only be open on Thursday, October 15th from noon to midnight and will sell unique, limited edition, one-of-a-kind merchandise, CD’s and other Flaming Lips merchandise including a possible performance by the ban. Starting this Tuesday, October 13th, you can go to Amoeba Music and get your pass to this special event with your purchase of Embryonic.
The tragic death of Adam Goldstein is also bringing an end to a Los Angeles clubbing institution that DJ AM helped build, Banana Split Sundaes. For the past three years, Banana Split Sundaes has hosted numerous DJ sets and live performances by some of the biggest acts in the world as well as introducing today's breakout stars. In honor of DJ AM, a new version of Banana Split Sundaes will be reincarnated in the near future in honor of Adam Goldstein's memory. For those of you that never got a chance to experience the party or kegs on the dance floor, a collage of Banana Split Sundaes have been compiled by friend of The Scenestar, Mark "The Cobrasnake" Hunter. Quentin Tarantino has a knack for combining great films with great tracks which is why Pulp Fiction is one of our favorite soundtracks here at The Scenestar. We're always anxious to see new Tarantino films and this one is no exception. You say Johnny, I say Marr. JOHNNY, MARR! JOHNNY, MARR! Be still our hearts Scenestar readers because legendary Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr is returning to play in Southern California for the first time since he took the stage at Coachella this year to play "A Town Called Malice" with Paul Weller. Johnny Marr has joined forces with Scenestar favorite, The Cribs, to play and tour on their newest release Ignore The Ignorant out digitally September 8th with a physical release out November 10th.
To celebrate The Cribs release, the band has booked their Johnny Marr debut here in Los Angeles at The Roxy on Monday, November 9th. Tickets go on sale on Thursday, August 27th at 11:00am via Ticketmaster.
