We made it to Wednesday, Scenestar readers. There are many concert offerings to get you over the hump, but one stands above all, and it's our Show of the Night: the return of Nas! To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Illmatic, documentary film Nas: Time Is Illmatic will be screened at the Orpheum Theatre tonight, with Nas performing Illmatic in its entirety following the screening.
One headlining show wasn't enough for Los Angeles, so Broken Bells have two shows this "Rocktober"! After Coachella 2014 and a "Localchella" show at the Fonda Theatre, James Mercer and Danger Mouse will headline the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25, with Canada's Austra opening both shows. These shows are in support of recent release After the Disco. If you would like to see Broken Bells on Friday, you can enter to win our ticket contest!
"Rocktober" continues with many more great concert options, Scenestar readers. This time, for our Show of the Night, we're selecting a local up-and-coming star, singer-songwriter Jillian Banks, AKA Banks! Los Angeles's Banks will headline the Wiltern tonight and tomorrow, October 22, in support of her debut album Goddess.
Another week of great "Rocktober" offerings continues, Scenestar readers. There are so many to choose from, but we're going with the Los Angeles debut of Milky Chance, our Show of the Night selection! The duo from Kassel, Germany, will perform tracks off of full-length release Sadnecessary and more tonight at the Troubadour, with opener Linus Young.
If you can't get in to our Show of the Night, your other music options include performances by AEGES, Alt-J, Belanova, Dream Boys, Gramatik, Magic Giant, Pentatonix, P L a N E T S, Randsburg, Spoon, and many more. Also, tonight is residency night in Los Angeles, so if you're 21 and over, there's a bunch of FREE shows by local bands that you can check out. Click here for ticket links and info on all of today's shows as well as upcoming local shows on our concert calendar. For any further updates, be sure to also follow us on Twitter for any last-minute news and set times (posted daily in the comments section) if available for select shows!
Swedish psych-rock band GOAT recently released a new music video for single "Hide From the Sun," from current release Commune. Back in April, GOAT had a pre-Coachella date at Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace before also performing at the Indio, Calif., festival. GOAT currently does not have any upcoming local shows, but we'll keep you posted, Scenestar readers!
