"Faster Pussycat Faster" is the first single off Paul Oakenfold's 2006 release A Lively Mind featuring vocalist Brittany Murphy. Actress and recording artist Brittany Murphy passed away today due to cardiac arrest, Sunday, December 20th, 2009 at age 32 (1977 - 2009). Rest In Peace my beautiful friend. You will always be loved and remembered.

Contest: Third Annual Christmas Sweater Festival @ El Rey Theatre

It looks like it's that time again to get into the holiday spirit and why not do it with a night of great music? This year, 3rd Annual Christmas Sweater Festival is in full effect with some great bands such as Castledoor, The Deadly Syndrome, Eskimohunter, The Pity Party, Signals & 400 Blows! The bands are playing this Saturday, December 19th at the El Rey Theater in the name of charity.

All proceeds from the concert will go to Teen Impact, a program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for teens and young adults with, or recovering from, cancer. Sound like something that tugs at your heartstrings and musical palette too? Then we have the contest for you!

Morrissey Issues Statement On 2009 Tour

Morrissey has issued a statement today via Morrissey webzine True To You regarding his feeling on the recently release B-sides from 2004 to 2009 Swords and his most recent tour that ended the year. Morrissey his feelings on the Swords release in November which were mostly filled with sorrow regarding pricing and goes into his favorite shows at the end of the year including some of the incidents that happened throughout the tour. Morrissey Cancels Saturday Indio Show

Bad news for you Scenestar readers that were planning to see Morrissey return to Indio Saturday, December 5th for the first time since Coachella. Fantasy Springs Resort Casino have regretfully announced today that the Morrissey concert scheduled for today has been postponed.

According to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino management, they were informed Saturday morning that Morrissey had blown out his voice and would be unable to perform Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Management also mentioned that Morrissey's show will be rescheduled and tickets to Morrissey’s December 5th show will be honored at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino for the new date.

Morrissey has had a banner year in terms of show controversy and that's one of the reasons we at The Scenestar love him so much! From his repulsion to the stench of meat in the air at Coachella, to collapsing at his Swindon show, to canceling a show in Liverpool due to getting hit with a bottle and finally kicking a fan out of a show in Hamburg, Germany, it was hard for Morrissey to stay out of the news in 2009. Now Morrissey has hit American shores and who knows what will happen when he plays here in Southern California in support of Swords. That's why we at The Scenestar are giving you the chance to see if anything crazy happens when Morrissey plays live at our favorite new venue of 2009, the Fox Theater in Pomona, next Monday, December 7th! 

Trailer: Two Turntables and A Microphone (2008)

October 30, 2002 is still a day that lives in infamy for one of the groups that has greatly influenced us here at The Scenestar growing up. That's when the legendary hip-hop DJ Jason Mizell AKA Jam Master Jay of Run DMC was gunned down in his Queens studio in the Fall of 2002. The world lost a great artist and the 2008 film 2 Turntables and A Microphone explores the facts and circumstances surrounding the investigation of the unsolved murder of Jam Master Jay. The film delves into why the security tapes from the studio mysteriously disappear, the five witnesses that were uncooperative and why no one is talking about the cloudy details behind the murder while going into the history of hip-hop and mainstream rap along the way. The film also has some great in-depth interviews with some of hip hop's biggest names. 2 Turntables and A Microphone will be available on DVD this Tuesday, December 1st.

The XX Goes On Hiatus & Cancels Tour Dates

Bad news The XX fans. Looks like the buzz band of the moment is on hiatus. Guitarist/keyboardist Baria Quereshi decided not to play their show at the Village Underground at Shoreditch while The XX continued on with the show and played as a threesome. They announced to the crowd ""Obviously this has been a really tough few days for us. This is the first time we've played as a three piece." They then dedicated "VCR" to Baria. The XX later stated will take this weekend to discuss their future cancelling some European dates with a possible return on Tuesday, November 3rd in Germany. The band later claimed that Baria is suffering from exhaustion from the grueling tour schedule.

The XX are scheduled to play with Friendly Fires in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 21st to the Henry Fonda Music Box so we're hoping things get resolved by then so we can catch them live and wish them the best.

Morrissey Discharged From Hospital

What a scary time Saturday for The Scenestar staff when one of our favorite artists, Morrissey collapsed yesterday at his gig at Swindon's Oasis Leisure Centre. Morrissey has since been released from Swindon's Great Western Hospital in much better condition.

Unfortunately for Morrissey fans in Bournemouth, he has postponed. Ticketholders for both yesterday's Swindon show and tomorrow's Bournemouth shows are advised to hold onto their tickets for reschedule or refund news. Morrissey will try and restart the tour this Tuesday, October 27th at Royal Albert Hall in London. We at The Scenestar wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you this December Morrissey! Morrissey In Hospital After Collapsing On Stage

Bad news Morrissey fans. According to the Press Association and various sources, Morrissey was taken to hospital tonight after collapsing on stage with breathing difficulties. Morrissey was performing at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon this Saturday, October 24th. At around the time he took the stage at 9pm tonight, Morrissey strained and winced through his opening number "This Charming Man," according to eyewitnesses, before he fell to his knees, collapsing unconscious on stage. The curtains closed as two band members carried him off and cleared the stage before a crew member announced 25 minutes later that Morrissey has left the building ill. Morrissey was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon after ambulances responded to a call concerning a 50-year-old man who was reported to be suffering from respiratory problems and was unconscious.

A spokeswoman for Swindon's Great Western Hospital later stated that Morrissey was brought in to the Accident and Emergency department this evening and was seen by their medical team, announcing that his condition is "stable". No word yet on what caused him to collapse but we'll have our eyes peeled for more details. No word yet on rescheduling or canceling future Morrissey tour dates. We at The Scenestar are hoping he recovers soon and hope he will be healthy enough to play this December. Our prayers are with you Moz.

Crosby, Stills & Nash Reschedule Greek Theatre Show

Bad news for those of you planning to go see Crosby, Stills and Nash tonight at the Greek Theatre. David Crosby has taken ill and the band will not be playing today. Fortunately all is not lost since the band will be rescheduling their tour date to Saturday, October 3rd.

Tickets for the postponed show will be honored and we will be moving our contest deadline to enter to win tickets to the show up a week to October 1st. We hope David Crosby recovers and we get to see an appearance from Neil Young. Make it happen!
