Contest: Third Annual Christmas Sweater Festival @ El Rey Theatre

It looks like it's that time again to get into the holiday spirit and why not do it with a night of great music? This year, 3rd Annual Christmas Sweater Festival is in full effect with some great bands such as Castledoor, The Deadly Syndrome, Eskimohunter, The Pity Party, Signals & 400 Blows! The bands are playing this Saturday, December 19th at the El Rey Theater in the name of charity.

All proceeds from the concert will go to Teen Impact, a program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for teens and young adults with, or recovering from, cancer. Sound like something that tugs at your heartstrings and musical palette too? Then we have the contest for you!

Contest: Aquabats @ Henry Fonda Music Box

One of our favorite bands out of Southern California's is back in town this week! The Aquabats are rocking into their 15th year together as a band this Friday, December 18th at the Henry Fonda Music Box!

 Los Angeles' own Ozomatli are in town to end the year with their only shows in Southern California to end the year! Ozomatli will be playing at Club Nokia to start off the weekend on Friday, December 18th and Saturday, December 19th as part of their Off The Grid tour. Opening for the band both nights is Mariachi Reyna. Ozomatli is known for their high energy live shows that get people moving and it's a show you want to experience at least once so we at The Scenestar are giving you that chance!

Our very own Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros are finally coming back home to Los Angeles to end their US tour next week! Edward Sharpe (Alex Ebert of Ima Robot) and crew will be finishing up their trek across the United States at the Mayan Theater this Monday, December 14th.

Passion Pit are back this week Scenestar readers! After selling out almost every show in 2009 here in Southern California including their most recent show at the Henry Fonda Music Box, Passion Pit is back this Saturday, December 12th to play one of The Scenestar's favorite new venues, the Pomona Fox Theater!

The Rolling Stones In Concert 40th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set. So what does this box set have you say? We're glad you asked.

The box set contains three Rolling Stones CDs, one DVD, a 56-page collectors book and a postcard replica of the original Rolling Stones 1969 tour poster by David Byrd. The 1st CD is a remastered version of the original Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out. The 2nd CD contains 5 unreleased tracks by The Rolling Stones from the original Madison Square Garden concert. The 3rd CD contains 12 never before released tracks by opening acts B.B. King and Ike & Tina Turner. Not only that, but you also get a DVD that features performances by The Rolling Stones from the 2 night concert at Madison Square Garden including backstage footage, scenes of Keith Richards in the studio and footage of the Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out album cover shoot, all shot by Albert and David Maysles.
