November is finally here, Scenestar readers. "Rocktober" just flew by, and tonight we're attending a now yearly holiday event with Danny Elfman, our Show of the Night selection! Following his Music From the Films of Tim Burton concerts at Microsoft Theater, he will headline the second of two nights at the Hollywood Bowl, performing alongside a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas with a full orchestra and choir with conductor John Mauceri and special guest artists.
"Rocktober" is almost over, Scenestar readers. But you can still head out and take advantage of the cool concert options that are left, including our pick for Show of the Night, Luna! After a recent show at the Echo, Luna has returned for the second of two headlining dates at the Teragram Ballroom tonight. Opening for Luna will be Quilt.
Hope you're enjoying your weekend, Scenestar readers! Tonight we'll spend some time rocking with Sufjan Stevens, our Show of the Night selection! Following two SOLD OUT dates at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion earlier this year, the singer-songwriter returns to headline an all-ages show at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara in support of current release Carrie & Lowell. Gallant will open the show.
One of the biggest "Rocktober" concerts is tonight, Scenestar readers. Our Show of the Night selection will feature the original band members of Blur performing their first L.A. headlining show in 16 years! Legendary British rockers Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree have a date at the Hollywood Bowl tonight, in support of new album The Magic Whip. Australia's Courtney Barnett will open this show as well as Blur's show at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday. The last time the original members of Blur performed in L.A. was at the Mayan in 1999. Blur also performed (without Coxon) at the Wiltern in 2003 in support of Think Tank.
