Morrissey's ill fated Europe tour continues to add to its series of incidents following a collapse by the Moz a few weeks back in Swindon. This time it's a fan instigated cancellation at tonight's show in Liverpool's Echo Arena. After opening with "This Charming Man" and a bit into "Black Cloud", a concert attendee launched a beer bottle at Morrissey while he was shaking hands with fans in the front row. Following being hit in the head, Morrissey then composed himself then said "Goodbye" before walking off the stage with the band as seen in the footage above.
Unfortunately for Morrissey fans in Bournemouth, he has postponed. Ticketholders for both yesterday's Swindon show and tomorrow's Bournemouth shows are advised to hold onto their tickets for reschedule or refund news. Morrissey will try and restart the tour this Tuesday, October 27th at Royal Albert Hall in London. We at The Scenestar wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you this December Morrissey! Footage of the Swindon's Oasis Leisure Centre collapse are below at the jump:
Bad news Morrissey fans. According to the Press Association and various sources, Morrissey was taken to hospital tonight after collapsing on stage with breathing difficulties. Morrissey was performing at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon this Saturday, October 24th. At around the time he took the stage at 9pm tonight, Morrissey strained and winced through his opening number "This Charming Man," according to eyewitnesses, before he fell to his knees, collapsing unconscious on stage. The curtains closed as two band members carried him off and cleared the stage before a crew member announced 25 minutes later that Morrissey has left the building ill. Morrissey was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon after ambulances responded to a call concerning a 50-year-old man who was reported to be suffering from respiratory problems and was unconscious.
A spokeswoman for Swindon's Great Western Hospital later stated that Morrissey was brought in to the Accident and Emergency department this evening and was seen by their medical team, announcing that his condition is "stable". No word yet on what caused him to collapse but we'll have our eyes peeled for more details. No word yet on rescheduling or canceling future Morrissey tour dates. We at The Scenestar are hoping he recovers soon and hope he will be healthy enough to play this December. Our prayers are with you Moz.
Sorry movie score fans if you had plans this Sunday, October 25th to catch film composer Ennio Morricone at the Hollywood Bowl. According to the Hollywood Bowl website, the concert has been cancelled. No official reason has been given although it did have trouble selling tickets especially when the show had direct competition against U2 that same day.
Ennio Morricone's concert was to consist of scores from movies he's conducted such as "Cinema Paradiso", "A Fistful of Dollars", "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", "The Mission", "Once Upon a Time in America", and "The Untouchables" along with other works. We hope Ennio Morricone reschedules soon and plans to come back to Los Angeles soon. For those who did have tickets, refunds are available at point of purchase.
Bad news this morning for Rakes fans anticipating their Halloween show at The Roxy. The Rakes have announced today on their website that the band has split effective immediately. This means all their upcoming US shows are cancelled including their Halloween show on October 31st at The Roxy.
We're sorry to hear about the split but hope them members of The Rakes move on to other musical projects. The band still plans to release their newest album Klang via ITunes on October 27th. Refunds are available at point of purchase for The Roxy show. See The Rakes goodbye letter to fans after the jump.
Bad news for those of you planning to go see Crosby, Stills and Nash tonight at the Greek Theatre. David Crosby has taken ill and the band will not be playing today. Fortunately all is not lost since the band will be rescheduling their tour date to Saturday, October 3rd.
Tickets for the postponed show will be honored and we will be moving our contest deadline to enter to win tickets to the show up a week to October 1st. We hope David Crosby recovers and we get to see an appearance from Neil Young. Make it happen!
This is what we at The Scenestar call a tough break! Sonic Youth has been forced to cancel their Saturday, September 26th show at the Santa Barbara Bowl and reschedule their Los Angeles, Pomona and San Diego shows due to guitarist Lee Ranaldo fracturing his wrist playing tennis.
After dissapointed fans found out Wednesday night that Nine Inch Nails' Henry Fonda Music Box show got cancelled due to health reasons, many feared that the Thursday's show would not be rescheduled and the rest of the dates would be in danger of also being delayed due to illness. Now that Trent seems to be recovering, two of the "Wave Goodbye" tour dates have been moved around to accomodate his recovery time before the shows go on.
Now hat was to be the "final" Nine Inch Nails show at EchoPlex will stay on schedule on Sunday, September 6th. The Henry Fonda Music Box show has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 8th and the Wiltern show will now be the final show on Thursday, September 10th. Full refunds are available for those unable to switch things aroundby contacting nintix@musictoday.com. No word yet if returned tickets for Nine Inch Nails will go on sale again to the public.
Sorry to those of you that camped out the past few days at the Henry Fonda Music Box. During last night's performance at the Hollywood Palladium, Trent Reznor mentioned that he wasn't feeling too well during a blistering set that featured Downward Spiral in its entirety. Nine Inch Nails didn't sound or look the part of an ailing band during the show that also played rare hits such as "Lights In The Sky" and featured a surprise cameo by Gary Neuman.
Now we know he really didn't feel well after the band Twittered & posted on their site last night after their show Wednesday that they we cancelling their show Thursday, September 3rd at the Henry Fonda Music Box. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the show will be rescheduled and refunds are being offered. No mention on the remaining shows at the Wiltern and Echoplex but we hope that Trent gets well soon so he can finish their "Wave Goodbye" tour on a high note. See below for Nine Inch Nail's official statement.
