Mika Miko Play Last Shows Ever @ The Smell

Mika Miko are finally hanging it up for good! After six years together, the band has decided to call it a day and move on. Some band members are going back to school while others are moving on to other projects. Mika Miko though has decided to end it all right were they started it all, Los Angeles. The band has booked three farewell shows at The Smell in downtown Los Angeles. They will be taking place on Wednesday, December 30th, Thursday, December 31st and finally Mika Miko's last show ever will take place on Friday, January 1st, 2010.

Tickets are now on sale for all three Mika Miko shows so don't wait because after the new year there won't be any more chances to catch the band live in its present lineup so take advantage of the chance to say farewell to Mika Miko live at The Smell!

Trailer: No Distance Left To Run (2010)

Blur has recently announced that they will be releasing a documentary feature length film, No Distance Left To Run, due for release in the UK on January 19th, 2010. No Distance Left to Run was filmed throughout the band’s rehearsals and recent reunion tour of 2009. No word yet on the US release date of Blur's documentary film but we'll keep you posted Scenestar readers!

Trailer: Two Turntables and A Microphone (2008)

October 30, 2002 is still a day that lives in infamy for one of the groups that has greatly influenced us here at The Scenestar growing up. That's when the legendary hip-hop DJ Jason Mizell AKA Jam Master Jay of Run DMC was gunned down in his Queens studio in the Fall of 2002. The world lost a great artist and the 2008 film 2 Turntables and A Microphone explores the facts and circumstances surrounding the investigation of the unsolved murder of Jam Master Jay. The film delves into why the security tapes from the studio mysteriously disappear, the five witnesses that were uncooperative and why no one is talking about the cloudy details behind the murder while going into the history of hip-hop and mainstream rap along the way. The film also has some great in-depth interviews with some of hip hop's biggest names. 2 Turntables and A Microphone will be available on DVD this Tuesday, December 1st.

The XX Goes On Hiatus & Cancels Tour Dates

Bad news The XX fans. Looks like the buzz band of the moment is on hiatus. Guitarist/keyboardist Baria Quereshi decided not to play their show at the Village Underground at Shoreditch while The XX continued on with the show and played as a threesome. They announced to the crowd ""Obviously this has been a really tough few days for us. This is the first time we've played as a three piece." They then dedicated "VCR" to Baria. The XX later stated will take this weekend to discuss their future cancelling some European dates with a possible return on Tuesday, November 3rd in Germany. The band later claimed that Baria is suffering from exhaustion from the grueling tour schedule.

The XX are scheduled to play with Friendly Fires in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 21st to the Henry Fonda Music Box so we're hoping things get resolved by then so we can catch them live and wish them the best.

The Rakes Break Up

Bad news this morning for Rakes fans anticipating their Halloween show at The Roxy. The Rakes have announced today on their website that the band has split effective immediately. This means all their upcoming US shows are cancelled including their Halloween show on October 31st at The Roxy.

We're sorry to hear about the split but hope them members of The Rakes move on to other musical projects. The band still plans to release their newest album Klang via ITunes on October 27th. Nine Inch Nails Cancel "Wave Goodbye" Show @ Henry Fonda Music Box

Sorry to those of you that camped out the past few days at the Henry Fonda Music Box. During last night's performance at the Hollywood Palladium, Trent Reznor mentioned that he wasn't feeling too well during a blistering set that featured Downward Spiral in its entirety. Nine Inch Nails didn't sound or look the part of an ailing band during the show that also played rare hits such as "Lights In The Sky" and featured a surprise cameo by Gary Neuman.

Now we know he really didn't feel well after the band Twittered & posted on their site last night after their show Wednesday that they we cancelling their show Thursday, September 3rd at the Henry Fonda Music Box. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the show will be rescheduled and refunds are being offered. No mention on the remaining shows at the Wiltern and Echoplex but we hope that Trent gets well soon so he can finish their "Wave Goodbye" tour on a high note. Noel Gallagher Quits Oasis

Looks like what most fans thought would be inevitable has finally happened. Noel Gallagher has left Oasis following an altercation with his brother Liam Gallagher backstage where Liam smashed Noel's guitar today at Paris's Rock En Seine according to eyewitnesses. This was one minute before Oasis were set to take the stage. The band then proceeded to cancel their second festival appearance in a row.

Noel Gallagher then issued a statement through Oasis' website:

"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.

"Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

Contest: Los Campesinos @ The El Rey Theatre

Scenestar favorite Los Campesinos will be playing a few shows locally this weekend on keyboard player Aleks' last tour with the band. Aleks is leaving the band upon completion of their new album and this current tour to continue with her studies.

The Verve Call It Quits Again

It looks like The Verve's Los Angeles headlining show to support their latest album Forth is REALLY not happening anytime soon. According to The Guardian and The Daily Mirror, the band haven't spoken since last year's V Festival and drinking problems affected the band. Nick McCabe and Simon Jones have already started work with a new band, The Black Ships (No relation to Black Ships, the Canadian punk band) while the musical status of Richard Ashcroft is unknown.

Should this be it for the band, we're hoping that maybe the fourth reunion is the charm for The Verve in the near future and that they finally book a non-Coachella show here in Los Angeles.

Nine Inch Nails "Wave Goodbye" NYC/CHI 2nd Presale Today

So you missed out on the Nine Inch Nails "Wave Goodbye" presale last week? Yes, alot of people did and are wondering how they can get a second chance to buy tickets to see Nine Inch Nails' "final" shows ever. Well, for the price of what some of the tickets are going for you might as well buy Chicago or New York tickets then fly to see them there!

There will be a second "paperless" presale for Terminal 5 in New York and Aragon Ballroom in Chicago today at 5pm (CST for Chicago, EST for New York) through nin.com via Ticketmaster. The "paperless" presale is a new system where instead of a guest list, it also utilizes the credit card used to purchase the tickets as the way you get in. More details on the process here.
