NIN on a Free Album Rampage

Seriously, this is getting a little out of control, but we like it. Turns out the cryptic message was totally worth losing sleep over. Trent Reznor has done it again by releasing a completely FREE album on nin.com entitled The Slip. Perhaps you’ve heard the first single, “Discipline,” on The Scenestar Jukebox, and you want more? Oh yes, you can have it. Ten tracks to be exact. Even better is that most of them have vocals!

In what can only be described as Trent’s ongoing quest to forge his own path to getting his music out to fans without the constraint of sometimes obnoxious major labels, nin.com is offering a variety of formats for the free download.

We have only listened to the album once, but the first listen did send a few shivers down the spine. It also got us pumped when thinking about hearing these songs live when Nine Inch Nails tours this summer. Don’t forget about that Sept. 6 Los Angeles date at the Forum! Premium presale tickets will be available on the NIN website, with Trent adding an extra layer of protection from pesky scalpers by printing the ticket buyer’s name on the ticket. Take that, scalpers!

One last bit of info: if you’ve never seen the band live, you might not know of Trent’s penchant for edgy and somewhat controversial opening acts. This time around, he has tapped Crystal Castles, A Place to Bury Strangers, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, White Williams and Deerhunter to open. Angelenos will have the pleasure of seeing Deerhunter. We love it!
