Just in time from recovering from our Coachella hangovers, we can start looking forward to this summer’s upcoming local festivals. F%$k Yeah Fest, HARD, Detour, Eagle Rock Music Festival, Sunset Junction, Weenie Roast and Swerve are a given, but now we have a new entry in our usual menu of fests. The Sunset Strip Festival will be holding their inaugural event June 26-28 to commemorate the history of the Sunset Strip. Participating venues include The Viper Room, The Roxy Theatre, Whisky A-Go-Go, House of Blues Sunset, The Cat Club and Key Club.
The festivities will kick off on Thursday, June 26, with a special opening night party at the House of Blues to pay tribute to the “Godfathers of the Sunset Strip,” Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri and Elmer Valentine. There will also be a very special musical performance to end the night. Friday and Saturday will feature performances at each of the participating clubs.
Already confirmed to play The Sunset Strip Festival are Hot Hot Heat (The Roxy), Louis XIV (The Viper Room), Juliette and The Licks (The Viper Room), The 88 (The Roxy), Ima Robot (The Roxy), Dilated Peoples (House of Blues Sunset), Godhead (The Cat Club) and B Real of Cypress Hill (Whisky A-Go-Go).
