Interview: Babasonicos
Babasonicos
March 29 @ Studio A, Miami

This is a bilingual article.
Babasonicos is considered one of the best Spanish rock bands. Originally from Argentina, they have outlived bigger groups that have disappeared, broken up or destroyed their careers with a bad, bad album.
Babasonicos’ latest release, Anoche, shows that this group not only has a very unique sound and style but their writing is quite incredible—from lyrics about love to broken hearts to those about teasing and flirting. They have enough talent to make you dance and sing your heart out. For hardcore fans, each of Babasonicos albums is unique in concept and sound, and each has unforgettable songs.
The Scenestar lined up early and waited a couple of hours to ensure an interview and front row presence at the band’s rare U.S. performance, which was guaranteed to be on anyone’s Top 10 list of all-time best shows.
After some free drinks thanks to Jack Daniel’s, we were able to chat with Mariano, guitarist of Babasonicos.
shows.
vista no tradicional digamos.
The show lineup was Babasonicos and Los Amigos Invisibles. I was convinced that Amigos were going to open the show, but Babasonicos hit the stage first. Studio A was packed to its limit, and we were ready for the Babasonico experience.
They played an intense one hour set, with minimal pauses in between songs. And with every song, the crowd got louder and more excited, with the climatic moment being “Putita,” which everyone sang the loudest. We also sang along to all the other songs, but “Putita” in particular had the best reaction. You could tell the members of Babasonicos had as much fun as the audience. After their encore, many left before Los Amigos performed, proving that Babasonicos had stolen the night. And in reality, this was their night. Honestly, this one of the few bands that shouldn’t have to share a bill. They are just that damn good.
Guess what? Babasonicos will be playing Los Angeles. Check them out if you can:

Babatastic! Did they have some airline size Jack Daniel bottles to take home after the show?

Yeah, it's pricey, but hey it's better than a Jaguares show, for which it seems you need to take out a bank loan to see.

hey paula, can i just say that i loved seeing there was an interview w/Babsonicos here- a band that i almost never see getting coverage on sites/publications other than those that cater strictly to 'latin alt' or 'rock en espanol'.
me encanto los Babas.

Thanks for the recommendation, I do have those albums already. And yes they are not what they used to be, but compared to other spanish rock bands, they are one of the remaining few, very remaning few that have continued to make great albums.

I really love this band. Only recently discovered them. So sad to hear about the passing of their bass player Gabriel "Gabo" Manelli in Jan 08. RIP.

Thank you Gordon, they will be visiting Los Angeles, CA very soon.
They are worth checking out live and you should listen to their older material.

Babasonica must be one of the best argentinian albums of all time.
Its poetry is just mindblowing and most songs are killer.
'Pasta de Hablar' is unreal.
